Imagine if you were left inside all day and were forced to occupy yourself all day long! BORING... Whether your dog is a purebred, mixed breed, male or female - there is a high chance they carry specific genetic traits that drive them to pursue physical activity. Dogs need to be walked for not only exercise but also for mental stimulation, genetic heritage and to sniff and engage with their “social” environment and surroundings of their fellow furry neighbours.
Earlier this week, in the ACT, a new legislation has been passed that gives hefty fines to dog owners who do not commit to walking their dogs at least once a day! Humans need exercise to remain fit and healthy and this goes for dogs as well, large fines of $4,000 will be awarded to pet owners who don't abide by the new law. Although there is some controversy over the high price of the fine, I believe that it's a simple task/responsibility that comes as a given when you decide to own a pet, and therefore if you are caught getting fines regularly, it clearly shows that you do not have what it takes to own an animal!
Even if you have a busy weekly schedule and are unable to dedicate an hour a day for your pet, there Is a growing community online of people who offer services such as dog walking so that at least you can give the attention that your pet needs even if it’s not with you! There are multiple platforms online including MadPaws, PetCloud and even Facebook where people offer their services, or you have the opportunity to request for assistance, this way you can easily connect with passionate animal lovers who would be willing to assist you in any way possible!
Although this new legislation is only currently operating in the ACT, it is likely that over the next few years, that the law may expand into other regions of the world to ensure that animals are treated how they deserve to be in order to remain active and healthy! Passionate animal lovers like myself would like to see justice to animals that are poorly treated by their owners! It absolutely breaks my heart to pieces to see or hear that some animal owners literally feed their pets twice a day and spend no other time with them what so ever!

Hence why I created my own pet sitting service, to not only be able to interact with a variety of different animals but also to be able to look after them while owners are away so that they don’t have to get sent to animal shelters feeling anxious and uncomfortable!
